Russia views the decision by Yerevan to prohibit Russian political scientist Andranik Migranyan from entering Armenia as an unfriendly act. This was stated on December 18 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

Information about the imposed ban surfaced on December 15. Migranyan arrived at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport to visit his parents' graves in Armenia. Upon arrival, he learned that he was barred from entering the country. The Armenian authorities did not provide reasons for this decision.

“We consider the ban on Andranik Migranyan's entry into Armenia as an absolutely unfriendly step by the official Yerevan,” Zakharova stated at a briefing.

She specified that this action contradicts the allied status of Russian-Armenian relations. The official representative added that Moscow promptly reached out to Yerevan through bilateral diplomatic channels for clarification regarding this decision.

As reported by IA Regnum, in 2022 Armenia prohibited entry to Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin and the editor-in-chief of RT Margaret Simonyan.
