The 15th package of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU) is unlawful and poses a threat to international energy security. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova during a briefing.

“On December 16, the 15th package of anti-Russian restrictive measures of a personal economic nature was adopted. These measures are illegal and unlawful. They are directed against both Russian and foreign economic operators and public figures. Brussels continues to harm our country with decisions that essentially pose an additional threat to global, not just our and European, but global energy security and the stability of international economic relations,” she said.

The diplomat specified that Russia’s retaliatory actions in response to these illegitimate sanctions will not be long in coming.

As reported by IA Regnum, on December 16, the foreign ministers of EU countries approved the 15th package of anti-Russian sanctions. It included restrictions concerning the so-called shadow fleet allegedly involved in the transportation of Russian energy resources, according to the statement. The list of personal sanctions included companies from Russia, as well as from China and North Korea.

Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that all tasks facing Russia in the near and long-term would be accomplished. The head of state noted that the country is progressing, its economy is growing amid unprecedented sanctions, and attempts at blackmail and hindrance to the country’s development will not succeed.
