The Vakhtangov Theater is reclaiming its historical appearance. However, unlike some other theaters, it hasn't truly lost it. Recently, the theater's director, Kirill Krok, shared on social media about brass handles from 1949. It turns out that in the historic building, some of these handles have been preserved, while others have been replaced with modern ones. Now, replicas of the handles from the late 1940s have been created, and some have already been installed.
Furthermore, the theater is currently clearing out a storage room where several artifacts have already been discovered. For instance, a brass plaque reading "Stalls. Entry after 3 rings is prohibited." Audiences admired these items in the theater foyer during the 1960s. Until recently, modern plastic versions hung in their place, but now the beauty, a part of the theater's history, has been restored.
Brass brackets for curtains have also been found in the storage area. They will soon be placed where they are meant to be.
Earlier, at a meeting of the Moscow City Duma's culture committee, director Kirill Krok stated that theatrical traditions and history must be preserved, not destroyed, hinting at the Moscow Sovremennik Theater:
“The theater was not created by you; it existed before you and will continue after you. You came here, which means you are obliged to maintain this style. Perhaps the style is distasteful to you? Then go somewhere else. What is this? If you want, you change the logo; if you want, you paint the light walls black, you remove historical fixtures. The theater has its own identity; you must preserve it.”
