In Moscow, the minimum pension in 2025 will amount to 25,850 rubles (this year it is 24,500 rubles). Starting January 1, social payments will be increased in the capital. The increment will be 5.5%. The corresponding decree was recently signed by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
Additionally, increases will be made to payments for couples celebrating anniversaries, elderly Muscovites over 100 years old, as well as a whole range of other beneficiaries.
It is important to note that the increase starting from the New Year will affect not only Moscow pensioners but also elderly people across the country. At the federal level, a pension increase of 7.3% will be implemented. However, it should be noted that the schedule for pension payments will change in December.
People who receive their payments in the first days of January will receive two pensions in December. This is due to the long New Year holidays. It is also worth mentioning that the pension for January will be higher, as it will already reflect the indexation. Lawyer Elena Kuznetsova pointed this out.

It should be noted that the amount of the fixed payment to the old-age insurance pension will be 8,728 rubles and 73 kopecks starting January 1, and the cost of the pension coefficient (one pension coefficient) will increase to 142 rubles and 76 kopecks.
— All these increases will be reflected in the January pension, which will be received at the end of December. Moreover, for pensioners over 80 years old and first-group disabled individuals, there will be an additional increase of 1,200 rubles. Previously, this was a compensation payment for individuals providing care to a pensioner. Now it will be added to the pension for everyone, meaning there is no need to confirm the fact of caregiving or submit any applications, — explained Elena Kuznetsova.
By the way, starting from January 1, the pension increase may be larger than expected. The reason is that the annual indexation amount depends on inflation. Currently, a 7.3% increase is planned, but the indexation could be higher.
If the actual amount in 2025 is higher than expected, the government will issue a decree for additional indexation of pensions. This was previously reported by the head of the Social Fund of Russia, Sergei Chirkov.
